Mercy Springs is a Christian church in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. We believe in the Triune God, the saving grace of Jesus Christ, the transforming work of the Holy Spirit, and the authority of Scripture.
We are a Christian people, centered on Jesus Christ and the good news of His life, death, resurrection, and reign. We welcome all people to know Him, follow Him, and grow in faith.
We are a holiness people, believing that God’s grace not only forgives sin but also transforms us into the likeness of Christ—forming in us wholehearted love for God and love for our neighbors.
We are a missional people, sent by the Holy Spirit to share the hope of Jesus, serve our neighbors with compassion, and participate in God’s work of renewal in Los Banos and beyond.
Our Core Beliefs
Mercy Springs Church is part of the Church of the Nazarene, a Christian church in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. These beliefs express the heart of our faith: God’s love revealed in Jesus Christ, the transforming work of the Holy Spirit, the authority of Scripture, and God’s mission to redeem and renew the world.
We are a teaching church.
We believe honest questions and thoughtful study help us know God, understand the Bible, and grow as followers of Jesus.
We believe in one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—eternal, holy, loving, and worthy of our worship. God created all things and continues to sustain and redeem His creation.
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived without sin, died for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven, and will return in glory.
We believe the Holy Spirit is present and active in the world, drawing people to Christ, convicting of sin, giving new life, guiding believers, and empowering the Church for faithful witness and holy living.
We believe the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and faithfully reveal all that is necessary for salvation and for life with God. Scripture is the trustworthy foundation for our faith, teaching, and discipleship.
We believe sin has broken humanity’s relationship with God, with one another, and with creation. We all need God’s grace, forgiveness, and healing; no one is beyond the reach of God’s love.
We believe that Jesus Christ died and rose again to make salvation available to every person. God’s grace is already at work in our lives, drawing us toward Himself and enabling us to respond to the good news of Jesus. When we repent—turning from sin and turning toward God—and place our faith in Christ, God forgives us, gives us new life, and welcomes us into His family as His children
We believe that God desires to sanctify believers wholly through the baptism with the Holy Spirit. This gracious work, received through faith following full surrender to God, cleanses the heart from sin, fills us with holy love, and empowers us to love God wholeheartedly and our neighbors as ourselves. The Holy Spirit assures believers of this transforming grace and continues to form Christlike character in us as we grow in grace throughout our lives.
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, gathered across every nation and culture. The Church worships God, makes disciples, celebrates the sacraments, serves the world, and bears witness to the gospel.
We believe baptism is a sign of God’s grace and of our participation in the life of Christ. Baptism marks our inclusion in the community of faith and our commitment to follow Jesus. We baptize believers and the children of believing families.
We believe the Lord’s Supper is a means of grace through which we remember Christ’s sacrifice, receive spiritual nourishment, proclaim His death, and look forward to His return. The Lord’s Table is open to all who seek to follow Jesus.
We believe God heals and restores. We pray confidently for healing—physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual—while trusting God’s wisdom and continuing to value compassionate medical care.
We believe that Jesus Christ will return visibly and triumphantly to bring God’s purposes to completion. All people will be raised and stand before God, who judges with perfect justice and mercy. Through faith in Christ, we look forward with hope to eternal life, the renewal of all creation, and the fullness of God’s kingdom. This hope calls us to live faithfully, lovingly, and expectantly today.
